President of UKE appointed coordinator for digital services

On May 15, a resolution of the Council of Ministers came into force, temporarily entrusting the President of UKE with the role of Coordinator for Digital Services. The role of the President of UKE as Coordinator will be to ensure effective exchange of information with the European Commission, the European Digital Services Board, and counterparts from other countries in areas regulated by the EU Digital Services Act. The adopted solution is temporary, as the role of the Coordinator and his powers and responsibilities will ultimately be defined in the Act on the provision of electronic services, which is currently being drafted.

In performing the function of Coordinator until the Act enters into force, the President of UKE will carry out tasks in the following areas:

1.    receiving information on European Commission decisions concerning the largest platforms and search engines (Article 33(6) of the DSA),

2.    cooperating in the development of guidelines on systemic risk management (Article 35(3) of the DSA),

3.    participating in the information exchange system between coordinators and the Commission (Article 57(1) of the DSA),

4.    participating in the work of the European Digital Services Board (Article 62(1) of the DSA),

5.    cooperating with digital services coordinators and the European Commission in developing expertise (Article 64),

6.    being informed about the activities of very large platforms and search engines in terms of compliance with EU regulations (Article 75(3) of the DSA).
