UKE is the organizer of the meeting with diplomats in Geneva

The meeting was graced by Doreen Bogdan-Martin, the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs Michał Gramatyka, and the Deputy Permanent Representative of Poland to the UN Office in Geneva Piotr Dzwonek, among others.

The meeting for ITU member states is held annually and always provides an excellent opportunity for informal discussions, during which we can present the Polish perspective on the most important issues concerning telecommunications and showcase specific solutions regarding the market regulator's tasks. We also discussed, among other things, Poland's candidacy for the ITU Council for the years 2027-2030.

This year, the main theme of the meeting was artificial intelligence as a civilizational opportunity. As stated by the President of UKE, Jacek Oko, by analyzing vast amounts of data, AI can quickly identify suspicious behaviors online, such as phishing, fraud, or cyber attacks. Banks and technology companies can use AI to protect user data and prevent unauthorized transactions. AI can assist security experts in anticipating threats and responding to them in real time. In industry, agriculture, or logistics, artificial intelligence enables more efficient production management, minimizing waste, or predicting machine failures, which translates into savings and higher product quality. However, the development of artificial intelligence requires not only investment but also wise oversight and comprehensive education.

"Here, I also see the significant role of digital market regulators, as well as all other institutions responsible for strengthening the position of consumers in the world of technology and protecting them against online abuses," said the President of UKE. He presented specific solutions. Since the beginning of this year, UKE has conducted workshops for over 170,000 young people, where we taught them, among other things, data protection and image management online, as well as recognizing manipulation in social media, including responding to fake news, clickbaits, and deepfakes. Additionally, we trained about 10,000 seniors on online safety principles and protection against cyber threats. This meeting was also an opportunity to promote Polish culture. Guests received an English translation of Stanisław Lem's story "The Futurological Congress."
